PianoCheater is a midi sequencer built for a PIANO PLAYER. KEYS.
NOT for a mixer tweakin' tech at some studio.
It will help you with your daily piano practice. (and elec drum practice:)
- in a "Piano Hero"-ish way:
The music notation is just ACTUAL moving piano keys
instead of dots and sharps and ledger lines on paper you need to flip.
(and not lose)
- what you play is checked against a reference score so your messups are
easier to notice.
- or scanned sheet music can be automatically scrolled at the right bar.
(no more page turns:)
It's built so you DON'T have to remember STUPID NUMBERS and dig through
those GOD FORSAKEN keyboard reference manuals.
If you think of something cool PianoCheater could do,
and it's simple enough,
and ESPECIALLY if it's a good idea,
it =WILL= be added.
For cryin' out loud, this thing is FREE !! (for now:)
PianoCheater is built SMALL:
- SMALL .exe size
- runs FAST (built in C++ on Win32 API)
- SIMPLE user interface built with minimalism in mind.
Oh yeah, "midi sequencer" means a program that will...
- load midi song files and -sequence- their notes with
the live playing you do on a midi keyboard
- record notes and controls (knobs&sliders) from the keyboard
- play the whole mess out to a set of midi synthesizers
- show the whole mess in a cool note/drum/control display on screen
- save to a midi song file for later
There are lots of MIDI sequencers out there.
Buuut I don't like certain things about them so I'm building my own.
Yeah, I'm just CRAZY like that.

Requirements:
- a regular windows PC. No special horsepower needed.
- a midi enabled instrument of some sort.
a digital piano, synthesizer, electronic drumset, or wind controller.
My recommendations
- you could TRY to make do with your PC "qwerty" keyboard for note input and
the vanilla "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth" built into all Windows...
But, come ON... Get SERIOUS bout your music !!

Updating:
PianoCheater will automatically check PianoCheater.com for updates.
Once every 2 weeks - never more frequently than this.
ONLY when PianoCheater first runs - NO dumb constantly runnin junk.
It will download a 10 byte file to see if there's a new version out or not.
If there IS, you'll be asked if you want to install it.
If you don't, it won't bug you again until the NEXT version is out.
________________________________________________________________________________
UnInstalling:
The usual way...
- Windows' Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, pick PianoCheater, pick Remove
- You'll need to delete the "Data Dir" directory yourself
since the uninstaller doesn't know if it's safe to delete stuff in there.
