You can't just keep on memorizing songs and memorizing songs and memorizing...

When you get to the point of trying to keep 80 songs in your head, well,
you may realize that your brain is NOT infinite...

So usually, you've got

  - the new songs you're currently learning and

  - your "repertoire" songs that you STILL have memorized

The remaining songs that you've learned usually go in one of two piles:

  - the ooole "I hate that song and never want to play it again!" pile.
    Nuff said.

  - I like that song, but it's lower priority than my "repertoire" songs
so it stays in the "I could relearn it if I needed to" pile.

You'll want to keep a log of "stuff" about the songs you learn:

  - when you started learning a song
  - when you finished
  - repertoire? trash it? good but done?
  - etc, etc...

You can find my "log of music stuff"
   here
